| Planning for graduation
starts as soon as you begin a degree program. Planning from the
beginning of your program for how you will complete your degree
requirements and starting to think about what comes after graduation
are keys to completing your degree on time and making a smooth transition
to your next step.
Follow these steps to be prepared for graduation:
-
Learn about the requirements for your program and plan for
how you will complete them.
-
Plan your coursework to complete your requirements in a time
frame that meets your situation and needs. Work with your
faculty advisor when you have questions about your plans and
strategies. Make use of support services as needed to complete
your course and to stay on track. Track your progress as you
complete your courses. See graduation
planning forms.
-
Think about what you want to do after graduation, long before
you expect to graduate. Your plans may affect your course
choice and whether you do an internship. Career
services can help you explore your interests, define your
goals, and prepare for success.
-
Check in with your faculty advisor at least two terms before
you plan to graduate to make sure you are on track and to
plan for completing your remaining requirements.
-
Apply for graduation by the published deadlines in order
to receive your degree. This will also help you find out what
arrangements you need to make to attend the commencement ceremony.
-
Attend your commencement ceremony and celebrate with your
family, friends and classmates!
